The Aerial Awards
Celebrating Creativity in Radio Advertising
The Aerials Awards were created by the Radio Advertising Bureau to celebrate creativity and innovation within the radio advertising industry and on a quarterly basis we recognise the best creative executions.

Congratulations to BBH for becoming the winners of the Q4 2011 Aerial Awards trophy, with their Audi A6 radio ad, as judged by Tony Hertz of Hertz Radio.

Here are Tony's comments:
This is the first time I've been asked to pick the Ad of the Quarter, and it wasn't easy. Not because there weren't a couple among the 16 spots that were better than the rest, but rather because the brief said, "Pick the most Creative." That made it hard because I don't think either would have impressed any awards jury I've been on.
The cleverest was the Audi A6 Avant, which used a celeste/wind chime-y arrangement of Ride of the Valkyrie to make the point about its ultra light technology.
If thin titanium could talk I guess it would sound like the Audi voiceover, and the overall feel is very light and sophisticated, so it might not matter that most listeners probably didn't get the Wagner gag. (I would cheer if I were wrong about the last part!) Nicely produced.
Also well made is the Persil Small and Mighty commercial. The children are cute, and seem real (and well edited) and I can see how it fits in with the campaign as a whole.
I suppose if you ask kids "what they think are the toughest stains" you'll end up choosing answers like "that's a tough one," and "you have to wash it reely reely hard." Me, I preferred it when the kids just went out and got dirty.
If you would like your chance to get your creativity recognised, be sure to get your radio ads in before the
deadline for the Q1 entries closes. The winners will not only win a trophy, but will also be featured in our monthly newsletter that goes out to over 8,000 industry subscribers.
The Aerial Awards
